Maribeth Gandy, a Senior Research Scientist at Georgia Tech, is a computer scientist focused on developing cutting-edge AR applications with useful, compelling, and entertaining user experiences. To this end she often utilizes human computer interaction techniques for design and evaluation in the AR domain. She has applied AR technology to applications for manufacturing, education, marketing, gaming, and art. Over the past 10 years she has developed a variety of AR systems for mobile phones, gaming devices, desktop computers, and location-based installations. In her research she has developed high level AR authoring tools, studied how to enhance and measure user immersion, applied AR technologies to a STEM education project for teens, explored how AR interfaces can enhance user abilities during maintenance and repair tasks, and, most recently, has collaborated on the creation of an open source AR web browser. In her consulting work she has built commercial AR games, enhanced live rock concerts, and worked with start up companies to develop AR business models and products.
