The AEL was founded in 1999 by Blair MacIntyre, now an Associate Professor in the School of Interactive Computing in the College of Computing
The lab is currently co-directed by Blair MacIntyre, Jay Bolter (the Wesley Chair in New Media and faculty member in the Digital Media Program in the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts) and Maribeth Gandy (Director of the Interactive Media Technology Center as well as the Associate Director of Interactive Media for the Institute for People and Technology).
